Al-Andalus students visit Al Jazeera Media Institute

AJMI - Doha

During a field trip that allowed students to explore the world of media from the inside, a delegation from Al-Andalus Private Primary School visited the halls of Al Jazeera Media Institute. They witnessed firsthand operation mechanisms in television control room and learned about studio components and techniques of coordinating image and sound during program preparation, accompanied by Hazem Hijazi, broadcasting operator of institute’s studios.

The students engaged in a practical experience of reading from teleprompter (auto=cue), which gave them a chance to understand the real role of a presenter in delivering news content, as well as the key traits of a successful anchor.

Mr. Waleed Othman, English teacher accompanying the delegation, expressed his happiness with this visit, stating that students’ impressions were extremely positive. He described it as a unique and valuable experience that connected what they see on Al Jazeera screen with the real-world operations within a media institution. He explained that the visit contributed to broadening students’ horizons, enhancing their skills, and opening new intellectual and professional avenues for them.

The delegation extended their gratitude to Aljazeera Media Institute and all those involved in organizing the visit, appreciating the institute’s efforts and its role in providing inspiring educational environments for young learners. In the same context, the visit carried a sense of wonder for students as Shaheen Al-Kubaisi said: “We never imagined that news production required such precision and organization.” Faisal Al-Kahtari added: “We discovered new aspects we had never seen before. It was an exceptional and enjoyable experience, and when I grow up, I want to be a presenter.” The students confirmed that the visit provided them with new knowledge that will remain in their memory.

Such field visits contribute to empowering youth with knowledge and experience, opening doors to understanding the hidden work in media, enhancing their awareness, and preparing them to participate effectively in shaping the future of media.
