Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network visits Al Jazeera Media Institute

Dr. Mustafa Souag, Acting Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network, visited Al Jazeera Media Institute, where he was briefed on the work progress at the Institute and its achievements during the current year, in addition to reviewing initiatives and projects currently underway.

During the Director-General's visit, directors of departments explained the most important achievements made until last August, as well as other media and journalism initiatives that the Institute is currently working on such as introduction of new courses in the field of artificial intelligence, establishment of journalism colleges’ forum and artificial intelligence conference and other similar projects.

During his visit to the Institute, Dr. Mustafa Souaq stressed the importance of Aljazeera message carried out by the Institute, recalling the idea of launching the Institute in 2004 as a limited training project and how it stands today as one of the best institutions specialized in training and media consultancy in the region and the world at large. Also, he noted that, the Institute has a pioneering role in promoting values, goals, vision and mission of Aljazeera Media Network, through its training courses held locally or off-border in different regions of the world and moreover its specialized journalistic editions and publications.

The Director General went further to say: "The Institute's strategy stemmed from skills of its talented staff and not planned by an external consulting company. Accordingly, the current activity, achievements and action in the Institute reflects the creativity of its previous and current administration in achieving this pioneering reputation of the Institute."

Dr. Souaq also appreciated the efforts of all employees of the Institute to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of its founding, pointing out that the Institute has become a source of interest and attention to all delegations visiting the network compared to television channels, highlighting the importance of training and investment in people at the present time.

He also praised the Institute's early attention to the field of artificial intelligence and its efforts in organizing a qualitative conference at the regional level and valued the importance of adopting artificial intelligence in media institutions as well, especially for Aljazeera and the establishment of its own unit of artificial intelligence. He also hailed the importance of focusing on the ethical aspects in the field of journalism and in the use of artificial intelligence.
