The eighth anniversary of Majalat Al-Sahafa (Journal of Journalism)
AJMI -Doha
Eight years ago, in the spring of the year 2016 Aljazeera Media Institute issued the first issue of the Journal of Journalism (Majalat Al-Sahafa) under the name of “Tea Café and journalist neutrality” to publish in its eighth anniversary 29 periodical editions and more than 1000 articles specialized in media and journalism.
Through its successful rich path, the magazine focused on the Arab world, and sparked in-depth discussions in various fields such as sports journalism, careful journalism, investigative journalism, citizen journalism, digital media, artificial intelligence, practical journalism, and other discussions that have always sought to enrich Arabic content with specialized articles.
Throughout these years, the magazine has aimed to lead a dialogue on the future of journalism in our region, and kept its papers and website doors widely open to encourage and embrace contributions of most outstanding journalists and people working in different fields of journalism and media, in addition to dozens of writers from more than 30 countries.
After the magazine’s edition published in Arabic Language has become more robust and has proven its worth and viability, the English version was published in 2021 as the opportunity became favorable to convey the experience of the magazine in its Arabic edition to the English-speaking audience in order to shed light on practices in the Arab region and present it as a platform for journalists in the countries of the South (culturally but not geographically), to share their experiences and discuss their challenges in a way that guarantees them a seat in the global debate on the career of journalism, and to engage and interact in it instead of taking seats of a voiceless spectators.
In response to the imperatives of the age of technology, Mjalat Al-Sahafa has also led discussion on its different digital platforms through organizing numerous forums, roundtables and debates on the future of the journalism as a profession.
