The Institute participates in the second national consultation on media Know-how

Al Jazeera Media Institute participated in the second national consultation on media know-how, in cooperation with UNESCO Office for the Gulf States and Yemen, in cooperation with Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the Qatar National Commission for UNESCO, in presence of a large number of media professionals and interested persons.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Ali Al-Maarafi, Secretary-General of the Qatar National Commission to UNESCO, Ms. Iman Al Ameri, Director of Aljazeera Media Institute, and Farida Abu Dan, Educational Programs Specialist at UNESCO Office for the Gulf States and Yemen.
In this context, Iman Al Ameri stressed the importance of media and information know-how in a world full of conflicting information, divergent opinions, fabricated news and flowery propaganda in order to understand intentional multiple misinformation, and to evaluate accuracy of information disseminated through mass communication and digital multimedia, due to the impact of this information on society members.
She identified the importance of media know-how as it enables us to understand how the media works and helps us evaluate information we receive from different sources, and opens our eyes to necessary precautions need to deal with this information flow in a conscious, responsible and effective manner, through a set of basic procedures and skills.
In his speech, Mr. Ali Al-Maarafi pointed out that this national consultation on media and information know-how in the State of Qatar comes as a continuation of valuable efforts made by UNESCO Office in Doha and the National Committee in cooperation with partners to draw a preliminary roadmap to promote media and information know-how in the State of Qatar, including the first consultation in 2019 and media and information now-how workshop held on2022 to empower future generation in Qatar.
