Learn Arabic through News, a new service launched by AJMI

AJMI Al Jazeera Media Institute's "Learn Arabic" team, at the anniversary of International Day of Arabic Language, is preparing to launch a new service on its website named "News by Levels" targeting journalists interested in learning Arabic.
The responsible team explained that the journalist will be able to service dedicated page, where he will find the daily news in three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. This classification comes to match with different levels of learners and helps them gradually improve their language skills.
To launch this service, the site organized a special competition for language professors specialized in simplifying texts in order to adapt to multiple levels, where sixty professors from all over the world participated in this competition. Given that twenty professors qualified for the final stages where only five professors were selected for the job.
The team pointed out that professor selection process was based on specific criteriass, the most important of which are their ability to choose fun, attractive and appropriate texts for each level, simplify complex texts to a degree commensurate with the capabilities of learners, and select the appropriate words for each educational level.
The team explained that, the site has prepared forty articles so far, and they will be launched on December 18. The service will include an option to listen to news in order to allow journalists to learn correct pronunciation and improve their listening skills.
Launch of this service comes as part of the Institute's strategy to develop skills of media professionals, by providing a self-alternative to learning Arabic without the need to enroll in traditional courses, where the trainee can read, learn and acquire new vocabulary and phrases in an interactive environment.
