Ramadan nights at Al Jazeera Media Institute

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Al Jazeera Media Institute is launching five Ramadan nights that bring participants together with a select group of Institute’s trainers in an interactive and dialogue-driven atmosphere. The events provide participants with a close look into media world and its unknown stories, revealing details taking place behind-the-scene.
The first night is dedicated to youth under the title “A Ramadan night with: Ahmed Al‑Malki,” on the evening of 26 February 2026, as part of “Future Media Professionals” category. Presented by media professional Ahmed Yousef Al‑Malki, the session shares real-life stories of his career journey, including experiences in front of/ behind the camera, in a simplified conversational style suitable for young audiences and requiring no prior registration conditions. The session begins with the art of storytelling and transforming events into clear narratives, followed by open discussion and opinion expression, with specific focus on understanding the nature of media work, role of the media professional and what happens behind the camera. This is delivered in an a simple style supported by real stories and experiences shared by the trainer.
The evening represents a seamless transition from dialogue to a practical studio experience, through which participants are introduced to real media work environment, including cameras, lighting, and microphones. Participants will also have a practical experience on presentation or reading a simple script in front of camera within a safe and encouraging environment that builds self-confidence. The night focuses on developing participants’ ability to express their ideas and opinions with confidence through open discussions and to experience their first appearance in front of camera within a supportive setting. The session concludes with participants receiving participation certificates from Al Jazeera Media Institute.
The remaining four nights are dedicated to adult audience, presented by media and journalism figures namely, Mohammed Krishan, Jalal Shehda, veteran media professional Laila Al‑Sheikhly and presenter Elsy Abi Assi. Each evening is held independently and focuses on different aspects of professional media work and a unique experience of each of those media professional.
These nights open a window for participants into practical experiences from within newsrooms, covering how to deal with current affairs coverage, manage television interviews, and taking editorial decisions under time and live broadcasting stress, in addition to discussing professional and ethical challenges faced by media professionals.
Through these nights, Ramadan program provides a rare podium for direct interaction between trainees and Institute’s trainers from Al Jazeera Network prominent figures and experts, and so combining open dialogue with transfer of real-media experience. This contributes to introducing both young age groups and adults to media world at various levels and enhancing their understanding of media professional’s role and responsibility in conveying events and shaping media narratives.
