AJMI – Doha

Al Jazeera Media Institute, in partnership with Qatar Career Development Center, held its Young Employee Day event on Monday, 26 October 2026. The initiative gave children of employees an opportunity to discover their parents’ workplace and explore their own skills and career interests through a range of interactive activities.

The program featured hands-on experience in writing, public speaking and appearing on camera, as well as visits to their parents’ offices, where children learned about day-to-day responsibilities of their parents. Participants also chose professions they aspire to pursue in the future and shared their interests and ambitions.

At “Athar Space”, children explored the importance of work and the impact it can have on other people’s lives. They also learned how roles of media professionals complement one another, in an experience that connects discovering a profession with understanding its value and responsibilities.

In an open and informal conversation with the children, Ms Iman Al-Amri, Director General of Al Jazeera Media Institute, listened to their impressions on their parents’ work and what they had discovered during the visit. She praised the initiative for offering children an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their parents’ responsibilities and broaden their horizons to future career possibilities at an early age. She also welcomed the prospect of holding the event again.

For his part, Mr Saad Abdullah Al-Kharji, Executive Director of Qatar Career Development Center, stressed that direct exposure to workplaces helps children form a clearer picture of different professions and their requirements, while providing them with knowledge to guide their future choices. He valued the Institute’s participation in the initiative and its efforts to give children a chance to explore the world of media, wishing them every success in their future careers.

The event concluded by reaffirming the importance of partnership between Al Jazeera Media Institute and the Qatar Career Development Center in supporting early career guidance for children and fostering an awareness of responsibility and value of work. These principles are essential to nurturing a generation aware of opportunities ahead and is equipped to contribute to the progress of its society.
