E-learning Platform launches "Basics of Photography" course

AJMI - Doha

Earlier this month, E-learning Platform of Al Jazeera Media Institute launched a new course titled "Basics of Photography".
The course, which focuses on enhancing photography basic and creative skills, gives participants the opportunity to self-learning an educational content of 170 minutes in Arabic language.
The course covers many themes, including details of basics of photography, such as identifying photography basic elements (exposure triangle, shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, aperture) as well as learning about types of cameras and lenses and principles of framing and composition.
The course aims to help participants understand light sources and how to optimally utilize light, in addition to training the eye to see views from creative angles that contribute to capturing images suitable for expressing impactful stories.
The course seeks to set up and boost both theoretical knowledge and practical skills of trainees, as course cognitive goals include understanding basic imaging techniques, selecting the right equipment and understanding focus and composition concepts. Skill objectives revolve around mastering camera settings, controlling motion and light, utilizing depth of field and using isolation techniques and creative highlighting of targeted object.
This course is considered as a valuable opportunity for those interested in arts of photography, whether they are beginners or seeking to develop their skills and achieve a quantum leap in their creative work.
The course is delivered by Mr. Abdullah Al-Binni, a veteran photojournalist with extensive experience covering conflicts and wars in regions such as Lebanon, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. He currently works as a documentary producer at Al Jazeera Media Network and has a track record of achievements, most notably his book "War Hotels", which carries the same name of a documentary series he produced for Al Jazeera English, documenting testimonies of journalists who covered wars from inside hotels that turned into military targets.
