Jean-Pierre Afadhali is an award-winning Kenya-based journalist with over a decade of experience covering African economies and science.
He won the 2023 Africa Science Journalism Award for Most Innovative Story of the Year and has worked with outlets including Nation Media Group, Financial Mail, BBC Monitoring, Pan-African Visions, and Global Voices Africa.
A finalist in the African Story Challenge (2015) and the Zimeo Excellence Media Awards (2016), he also received a 2023 JamLab Africa grant to report on journalism innovation across the continent.

Despite efforts in combating climate change and finding climate solutions in the Africa, the continent’s climate story is still told through the lens of colonisation. The dominant stories centre on the victimhood; especially during climate disasters. Such stories don’t mention the side of the continent’s efforts to adapt to climate change.
