5 new Arabic language learning courses for Al Jazeera Media Network employees

AJMI - Doha

In a workplace that brings together more than ninety nationalities and cultures, Al Jazeera Media Institute continues to build bridges through Arabic language learning, launching next week five new courses as part of its internal initiative to teach Arabic language to non-native speakers of Al Jazeera Media Network employees.

Over the past two weeks, the team conducted around 60 individual interviews to assess participants’ language proficiency levels. Each interview lasted between 20 and 30 minutes and went beyond mere language assessment—it became an opportunity for cultural exchange and acquaintance. “Learn Arabic” team at the Institute listened to interests, preferences, and ambitions of colleagues wishing to join the program in order to design course objectives and create a tailored learning experiment that meets each participant’s needs in order to open a suitable pathway for him.

Approximately 60 colleagues from various sectors of the Network and from different countries around the world are participating in the new courses. Courses are offered in a hybrid format, combining in-person learning at the Institute training rooms and remote learning. This comes as a continuation of similar courses launched by the Institute in 2023, which received remarkable engagement from employees who saw them as an opportunity for connection and mutual understanding through a language that expresses identity and spirit of the Network.

This initiative is part of the Institute’s efforts to strengthen Arabic language presence in a multicultural work environment, to integrate foreign colleagues into Arab communities and to promote Arabic as a language of communication and knowledge that reflects Al Jazeera’s values and journalistic mission.
