AJMI hosts a group of Students representing Leadership Department at Qatar University

On Thursday morning, May 2, 2024, Al jazeera Media Institute hosted a group of students representing Department of Student Leadership and Social Responsibility at Qatar University, in the context of cultural and educational communication between the Institute and Qatar University.
Iman Al Ameri, Director of Al jazeera Media Institute, met with the students who were briefed on her leadership and professional experience, and reviewed the challenges and opportunities that await young people in the field of media and fields of leadership in general. Discussions also extended to address the wide opportunities available to them to influence and achieve positive change specially in the availability of artificial intelligence.
Al Ameri said: "I am pleased to host you today at the Institute, and proud to meeting a group of young leadership capable of creativity that has the ability to research, analyze and aspire to creative ideas that advance society and the country."
In turn, Amal Al-Otaibi from the Student Leadership Department at Qatar University praised the meeting and said: "The students were very excited about this visit because of the pioneering reputation of Al jazeera Media Network, specifically Al jazeera Media Institute, at the local and international community levels, as well as the face to face communication with its administration and the opportunity to learn about its rich experience and benefit from its valuable experience in the world of media and leadership."
Al-Otaibi pointed out that the visit to the institute is part of activities of Student Leaders Department at the University of Qatar which aims to create a link between leaders in Qatari society and Qatar University students, especially those interested in the leadership aspect, in order to exchange experience with leaders in the community that will help them understand the role and vision of the leaders, skills and challenges they face, in addition to benefiting from such experiences and try applying them optimally.
In the same context, the students praised the meeting and the quantum of benefit they achieved. From her side student Najah Al-Karbi said that artificial intelligence will not affect media work, especially as I am a media student, but can support and benefit it, and the human being remains the main factor in terms of driving journalism ethics that distinguish man from machine.
Student, Aisha Al-Marri, praised developments she saw in the corridors of the institute that helps it keeping pace with modern technologies, and with regard to leadership roles in society, Aisha stressed the importance of assessing and analyzing reality according to certain procedures and then taking appropriate change steps.
Al-Dana Al-Marri, a student in media department, said: "I was looking forward to visiting Al jazeera and learning about its various experiences, and today the wish came true, and I realized the value and importance of having clear goals that I seek to implement and the importance of adhering to them if I want to achieve them, whether on a professional or personal level."
After the meeting a comprehensive tour was organized in the corridors of the Institute, in which the students were introduced to the various services of the Institute and visited television studios where practical training were held.
This visit comes as part of the Institute's and Qatar University's efforts to enhance institutional cooperation and exchange experience between educational and media institutions in the country, with the aim of developing young cadres and refining their leadership and creative skills, and at the same time reflects the commitment of the Institute and the University to support and empower young people, and enhance their leadership and creative capabilities to create a better future.
