AJMI issues a comprehensive report on “A.I in Media Conference”

Al Jazeera Media Institute has issued a comprehensive report in Arabic and English languages, documenting the activities of the second edition of "Artificial Intelligence in Media" conference, which was organized by the Institute on January 11 and 12, 2025 with unprecedented participation of media groups of and technology media experts worldwide.

The 132-page report covers the most important features of the conference, including complete panel discussions, keynote speeches and practical workshops that focus on the latest developments in artificial intelligence and its growing applications in media industry, as well as ethical and professional challenges facing media organizations when dealing with this advanced technology.

Among topics of this report reviewing experience of major media organizations such as Al Jazeera, Reuters, and the Washington Post, in addition to discussing the role of Fanar Platform, which is considered as one of the most prominent Arab Initiatives in adapting artificial intelligence to serve Arabic language.

According to the report, the conference witnessed a widespread interaction, with more than 2,300 people registered to attend in person, although registration was closed early due to high turnout. The number of views on social media platforms exceeded 33 million, reflecting the momentum that accompanied the event.

In terms of media coverage, the report documented publication of 218 media subjects, including 120 coverage in Arabic and 98 in English, prepared by 85 journalists, while 76 international media organizations participated in transmitting conference activities to global audience.

The report also pointed out that practical workshops that accompanied the conference gained an estimated participation of 319 persons, who were intensively trained on employing artificial intelligence tools in news industry, data analysis, and media content production.

At the end of the report, Al Jazeera Institute reviewed the most prominent recommendations of the conference which include:

Promoting ethical use of AI under control of independent supervisory committees, ensure adherence to transparency and privacy rules and counter algorithmic biases.
Expanding cooperation between media organizations and technology companies to encourage development of advanced solutions that serve media field.
In addition to training and qualifying media cadres through customized programs and updated educational curricula in line with digital transformations.
Supporting artificial intelligence sustainability through environment friendly technologies that contribute to reducing emissions and enhancing energy efficiency, in addition to enhancing cybersecurity in media organizations through updating security policies and training specialized teams.
The conference also recommended empowering Arabic language in artificial intelligence by developing language tools and specialized data centers that support Arabic digital content.
The report is a key reference for decision-makers, researchers and media workers, as it contains practical recommendations and knowledge conclusions that reflect the depth of the relationship between media and technology in the modern era.
