Japanese student delegation explores Al Jazeera Media Institute’s experience

AJMI - Doha

Al Jazeera Media Institute welcomed a Japanese student delegation comprising nine students from several Japanese universities, accompanied by two supervisors from Sasakawa Peace Foundation, which had organized a similar student visit to the Institute earlier last year.

During the visit the delegation, accompanied by journalist Mi Shigenobu, was introduced to services and training programs of the Institute. Members of the delegation expressed their admiration for Institute’s modern facilities and advanced studios and took part in a discussion on contemporary media issues, with a particular focus on importance of news verification and consolidation of professional and credibility standards in Al Jazeera Channel’s output and digital platforms, in addition to promoting media literacy among audiences.

The visit also included a tour of Institute’s studios and various facilities, providing the delegation with an overview of the practical training environment and technical infrastructure. Delegation members commended the training experience of the Institute and achievements it has accomplished over 22 years in developing media professionals.

It is worth noting that a previous delegation from Sasakawa Peace Foundation visited Al Jazeera Media Institute in January 2025, comprising seven university students as part of an academic field study tour to several countries in the Middle East.
