AJMI launched a new self-paced Arabic course on its e-learning platform titled: "When the Voice Becomes an Image: Professional Sports Commentary Skills" presented by Essam Chaouali, sports commentator for beIN Sports channels.

The course aims to familiarise trainees with the art of sports commentary, the role of the commentator during matches, and the skills needed to deliver a professional performance that aligns with the nature of the game and its evolving dynamics.

Chaouali will walk the trainees through practical questions about this field, including: What capabilities must a sports commentator possess? How does he/she prepare for the match, on which they will be commentating? How does he/she research sports information using open sources? And the difference between commentating from the stadium and commentating from within the studio.

This training opportunity covers the principles of voice control, delivery, and pacing, as well as the challenges that sports commentators may face. Ethical questions related to the profession will also be addressed such as: Should a commentator be neutral? And what are the limits of employing criticism and analysis without falling into bias or spreading hate speech and discrimination?
