"Learn Arabic" organises an int'al conference on linguistic proficiency tests

The website "Learn Arabic," of Al Jazeera Media Institute in collaboration with Marmara University, recently hosted a conference titled "Linguistic Proficiency Tests for Non-Arabic Speakers and Digital Age Techniques" in Istanbul on December 23rd and 24th. The event coincided with the observance of the International Day of the Arabic Language.
The primary objective of the conference was to facilitate discussions on improving linguistic proficiency tests and strengthening assessment tools through the application of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.
The conference commenced with a welcoming address from Dr. Ibrahim Mansour, the Head of the Arabic Language Education Program at Al Jazeera Media Institute. Dr. Mansour emphasized the significance of innovation in designing proficiency tests, highlighting the importance of incorporating modern technologies.
Furthermore, Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Qajr, the Head of the Arabic Language and Eloquence Department at Marmara University, stressed the importance of academic collaboration for the refinement of language education.
Throughout the conference, experts from various countries participated in four separate scientific sessions. The first session explored the frameworks of proficiency tests, while the second focused on the integration of artificial intelligence and proficiency assessments. The third session addressed the influential factors in proficiency tests, and the final scientific session concentrated on the analysis of such tests.
In addition to these sessions, the conference offered specialized workshops where participants had the opportunity to examine the latest tools and techniques.
The initial workshop discussed international accreditation for Arabic language programs, while.The second workshop compared oral proficiency assessment methods between ACTFL and the European Framework.
The third workshop explored interpretive communication in reading and listening, considering ACTFL standards. Lastly, the fourth workshop examined the utilization of artificial intelligence in the development of language proficiency tests.
The conference served as an international platform for academics and experts to exchange ideas and experiences, with the shared goal of enhancing Arabic language education and its accompanying testing methods.
By prioritizing innovation and the integration of modern technologies, the conference aimed to strengthen the position of the Arabic language within the global educational landscape.
