AJMI reinforces “Multicultural work environment” through courses of “Learn Arabic” Program
AJMI - Doha
In a step that reflects Al Jazeera Network’s commitment to developing its employee skills and fostering a multicultural workplace, “Learn Arabic” program at Al Jazeera Media Institute has launched specialized courses for non-Arabic-speaking staff. The initiative aims to empower participants to use Arabic language confidently in everyday work contexts to enhance their integration into Arab environment.
These courses are uniquely designed to align closely with the nature of media work, focusing on practical skills such as conducting meetings, leading discussions, writing articles, and interacting within a fast-paced media environment. While maintaining its established teaching methodology, the program tailors its content to serve real-life language use rather than purely theoretical learning.
Dr. Ibrahim Mansour, Head of “Learn Arabic” Program at Al Jazeera Media Institute, stated that the initiative is based on a vision that views language as a social and professional practice before it is a system of rules. He noted that enabling employees to use Arabic language helps bridge communication gaps within a multicultural workplace and enhances professional collaboration, which ultimately improves quality of media performance and output. Dr. Mansour added that the program is based on context-driven and usage-based learning, which helps transform cultural diversity within the Network into a source of strength that supports innovation and teamwork.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Tahseen, Supervisor of “Learn Arabic” courses at the Institute, explained that the impact of the program extends beyond language acquisition to building human and professional connections among colleagues. A shared language, he noted, creates broader opportunities for interaction and closer collaboration in workplace. He noted that as participants progress, they move from being passive recipients to active contributors in dialogue, strengthening their integration and presence within multicultural media teams.
Program organizers confirm that the impact of these courses goes beyond improving language skills to fostering greater self-confidence among participants and encouraging them to move from hesitation to initiative, and from observing conversations to active engagement. Given that these courses bring together participants from diverse nationalities and backgrounds, turning the classroom into a dynamic space where cultures intersect through a shared language.
The program management believes that true success lies not in the speed of learning but in its continuity. The learner’s journey does not end with the course; rather, it begins there through building a long-term relationship with the language that enables him/her to use it with confidence across professional contexts and strengthens communication with colleagues in the workplace.
