Media Culture Workshop for 110 students

The workshop was delivered by Raghda Gamal, where she introduced students to the function of media and its role in transferring knowledge, and explained mechanisms of accessing the right information and its reliable sources, in addition to providing a discussion platform where the team of the institute listened to students' perceptions about media and its impact on their daily lives.
The workshop included a brief presentation on history of media and its development from the first traditional means to contemporary digital platforms, while clarifying the differences between reliable and unreliable sources in news circulation.

For their part, during the introductory workshop on media, students expressed their admiration for what they heard and watched of videos, Maryam Khodari said: We watched videos that dealt with old forms of television and we learned about how to print newspapers in the past, and we interacted with them a lot and ignited our curiosity and passion to learn more about media field, and Sima Firas stressed: We have to get news from reliable sources and resort to adults to clarify the correct picture and to correct any information that may be confusing to us.
This field visit comes out of the Institute's keenness to reach out to students in their schools and invest in their educational environment, in order to ensure expansion of umbrella of beneficiaries of workshops and to provide such workshops to larger segments of students in their locations.
