Media for Development Initiatives Organises Two Courses on Journalism & International Laws & Legislations in Istanbul

Media for Development Initiatives Management at Al Jazeera Media Institute is organising two courses on Journalism & International Laws & Legislations in Istanbul. This is in collaboration with Visto International for Rights and Development, which advocates on human rights and development.
The two courses will be implemented this October. The first course will be held from the 22nd to the 25th of October 2023, and the second course will be held from the 27th to the 30th of October 2023.

The aim of these courses is to provide journalists with in-depth knowledge related to international laws and regulations, methods of employing them in journalistic work, human rights coverage and procedures to protect journalists in accordance with international law.

The courses will cover the international legal framework in war and conflict zones, human rights law, rules of freedom of expression, law enforcement, refugee issues, the international legal protection of journalists, basic guarantees, international crimes, international courts and finally, the responsibilities and duties of journalists under international law.

For interested participants, applicants should have at least 3 years of experience in the field of journalism, be under the age of 35, be currently employed full-time at a media institution and demonstrate a professional need for the course in their journalistic work.
