Al Jazeera Media Institute has published a new guide for journalists on conducting open-source investigations.

AJMI’s Open Source Investigations Handbook, available in both Arabic and English, is a comprehensive guide to all aspects of working with open-source intelligence, from sourcing, cleaning and analysing information and data right through to publishing stories and investigations.

The Handbook will help you develop a toolbox for conducting open-source investigations and will teach you to identify and protect yourself from the legal and digital risks associated with mining open-source intelligence for information.

Learn how to verify video, track the movements of ships and planes, analyse satellite images and use geolocation and chronolocation to assist with your investigation.
