AJMI SUPPORTS TEN INDEPENDENT INITIATIVES THROUGH “MEDIA EMPOWERMENT” PROJECT Today
AJMI - Doha
Al Jazeera Media Institute in Doha has announced the recipients of support in the third round of its “Media Empowerment" grant for independent initiatives, for the year 2026.
The grants were awarded to ten media initiatives from four countries – Yemen, Palestine, India and Egypt – spanning digital platforms, media organisations, and youth and community initiatives.
The supported initiatives include “Maktoub" platform from India, which aims to employ artificial intelligence in journalistic production and editing; “Qudsna Digital" platform; the “Palestinian Network for Media Development"; “Aswat Boqjah"; and “Ruh min Filastin", focusing on developing digital storytelling, empowering journalists, and producing human‑interest content. Initiatives from Yemen include “Rif Al‑Yemen", “Yumna" platform, “Shabab House", and the “Yemeni Women's Archive", which focus on local development, human‑interest journalism, investigative journalism, and documenting community memory. One of the grants was also awarded to the “Arab Network for Trauma‑Informed Journalism" from Egypt, to produce a guide that supports journalists' mental health and enhances their awareness in dealing with occupational trauma.
This project falls within the Institute's vision to support media development in the region and to empower independent initiatives to convey the issues of their communities effectively and impactfully, through media projects that focus on building a better future for societies.
