تحولت منصة تيك توك خلال الاحتجاجات الأميركية الأخيرة إلى منصة مهمة داعمة للاحتجاجات، في وقت كانت تعتبر مجرد وسيلة للتسلية، تتضمن غالباً مقاطع لرقصات روادها.
وحسب وكالة رويترز، فإن المنصة ساهمت كثيرا في التوعية ضد العنصرية التي تمارس بحق المجتمع الأميركي الإفريقي.
ونقلت الوكالة في تقرير لها، أن تيك توك، بات يلعب الدور نفسه الذي لعبه تويتر في أحداث الربيع العربي العام 2011، خاصة أنه يسمح بعرض المحتوى بأسرع وقت ممكن.
وعرضت الوكالة تجربة شابة أميركية تبلغ من العمر 17 عاماً، وتدعى تايلور كاسيدي، مشيرة إلى أنها جمعت أكثر من مليون ونصف متابع عبر تيك توك، منذ انضمامها للمنصة في نوفمبر الماضي، وكانت من بين ملايين المستخدمين الذين يساعدون على إنتاج مقاطع فيديو قصيرة لتساهم في التحركات المعارضة لتصرفات الشرطة الأميركية ضد السود.
ولفتت رويترز إلى أنه وقبل أيام، استطاع وسم #blacklivesmatter أن يحصد أكثر من ثلاثة مليارات مشاهدة على منصة تيك توك. كما أن مشاهير المنصة أمثال شارلي دامليو (60 مليون متابع) كانت عرضت عبر حسابها بعض الرقصات التي تحاكي قضية جورج فلويد، الرجل الأسود من مينيسوتا الذي قتل على يد الشرطة والذي أشعل حراكاً عارماً ضد العنصرية في أميركا.
ووفق الوكالة، فإن تيك توك، وبعد الأحداث الأميركية الأخيرة، صارت منصة ينطلق منها الشباب للتعبير عن آرائهم السياسية، ليشغل دور تويتر في أحداث الربيع العربي في العام 2011، وتلفزيون MTV الذي لعب دوراً في تحفيز الناخبين الشباب في أوائل التسعينات.
