أكثر من 750 صحفيا يدينون قتل الصحفيين والتغطية الغربية المنحازة في الحرب على غزة

وقع أكثر من 750 صحفيا يعملون في مؤسسات إعلامية مختلفة حول العالم عريضة تدين قتل الصحفيين الفلسطينيين في غزة على يد الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، وتنتقد بشدة تغطية الإعلام الغربي إزاء ما وصفتها العريضة بالفظائع التي ترتكب بحق الفلسطينيين في الحرب على غزة.
وقال البيان إن غرف الأخبار "مسؤولة عن الخطاب اللاإنساني الذي يبرر التطهير العرقي للفلسطينيين". وقالت العريضة إن المعايير المزدوجة وعدم الدقة والمغالطات تكثر في المطبوعات الأمريكية وقد تم توثيقها بشكل جيد. وقع أكثر من 500 صحفي على رسالة مفتوحة في عام 2021 توضح المخاوف من تجاهل وسائل الإعلام الأمريكية للقمع الإسرائيلي للفلسطينيين. ومع ذلك، لم تتم الاستجابة للدعوة إلى التغطية العادلة".
وأشارت العريضة إلى مقتل أكثر من 10 آلاف فلسطيني بينهم 34 صحفيا بحسب لجنة حماية الصحفيين. ودعا البيان إلى حماية الصحفيين الذين يتم الاعتماد عليهم بشكل كبير في نقل الأخبار من غزة في الوقت الذي منعت إسرائيل دخول الصحافة الأجنبية، وفرضت قيودًا شديدة على الاتصالات وقصفت المكاتب الصحفية. وبحسب العريضة فقد تعرض نحو 50 مقرا إعلاميا في غزة للقصف في أكتوبر الماضي، فيما حذرت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي غرف الأخبار صراحةً من أنها "لا تستطيع ضمان" سلامة موظفيها من الغارات الجوية. و"بالنظر إلى نمط الاستهداف المميت للصحفيين المستمر منذ عقود، تظهر تصرفات إسرائيل قمعًا واسع النطاق للتعبير".
