نيويورك تايمز توجّه صحفييها بتجنب استخدام مصطلحات "الإبادة الجماعية" و"الأراضي المحتلة" في تغطيتها للحرب على فلسطين

نشر موقع ذا إنترسبت الأمريكي، تسريبا لمدونة داخلية وزعت على الصحفيين في صحيفة نيويورك تايمز، تحت بند سعي الصحيفة لـ "الحفاظ على التغطية الموضوعية" للحرب التي تشنها إسرائيل على قطاع غزة منذ أكتوبر ٢٠٢٣.

المذكرة طلبت من الصحفيين تجنب استخدام مصطلحات من قبيل "الأراضي المحتلة" أو "إبادة جماعية" أو "تطهير عرقي" في القصص المرتبطة بالحرب، وكذلك تجنّب استخدام اسم "فلسطين" في التغطية إلا في حالات نادرة.

كما وجهّت الصحيفة بتجنب استخدام مصطلح "مخيمات اللاجئين" في وصف المناطق التي يقطنها لاجئون في قطاع غزة، على الرغم من أن تلك المناطق معترف بها من قبل الأمم المتحدة كمخيمات لاجئين ويقطنها أفراد مسجلون كلاجئين من قبل الأمم المتحدة، ما قد يشير إلى وجود تجاهل لسياق الظروف القاهرة التي يعانيها جزء كبير من اللاجئين في قطاع غزة ضمن إطار يسعى لنزع الإنسانية عن الفلسطيني وعن سكان قطاع غزة على وجه الخصوص.
